Dear Friends,

What a year! Stepping into the business side of this sport was a huge decision for me. I really battled with hanging up my racing shoes, but with no great opportunities, notice I said “great” opportunities out there; I knew the best decision was to take a roll in my Dad’s company. Considering my entire career wins were behind the wheel of a DEI car, it’s hard to forget that kind of success and how great it felt. I’m still pushing and searching for one more opportunity to strap into a DEI machine, but for now I’m taking over a different kind of wheel.

The future of DEI is bright, but there’s a lot of work cut out for us with the addition of DEI West and of course Dale Jr’s departure would be foolish to overlook. It’s nothing new in this sport and we are taking it one day at a time as any team would and has had to do in the past when faced with challenges. I dabble in a little of everything, but my primary focus is the Driver Development Program. It will be a rough and rocky road developing and working with “young” talent. There are a lot of obstacles to face both on and off the track. It’s not only our responsibility and important to our company’s investment for us to develop their racing skills, but to also help them mature to a young, competent adult that has been given a great, yet demanding opportunity at a young age.

I’m very optimistic about the future of DEI driver’s slated to compete for us. As you know Jeffrey, my youngest son, had an awesome year in the Busch East Series and I’m very proud of him. We are adding some more drivers to the mix in 2008 to give you more to cheer about and look forward to with DEI.

Lastly, I want to wish each and every one of you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Enjoy all the time with your family and thanks for taking the time to keep up with mine!
