I’m back!  I first have to make mention of our second-11th place finish of the season at Vegas.  We’ve had some great runs, but struggled with the finishes.  This past weekend Lance Hooper, my crew chief, and the guys gave me a great truck that never fail off from start to finish.  Lady Luck on our side didn’t hurt to much either and we came away with a good finish!  I’ve enjoyed racing in the NCTS and look forward to the remainder of the season.

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately, mainly because it’s the time of the year I love the most.  The air is crisper and the leaves are just starting to turn enough to let you know it’s almost hunting season.  I’ve missed a couple days of bow-hunting here in North Carolina, but I’m making my schedule to change that.  I know a lot of people have issues with hunters, but just so all of you know, I’m huge on land and animal conservation. All the wild game I hunt provide food for my family and some of my friends that have no idea what the heck their eating when they come to my house. HA! No seriously, we all must respect nature and all that is in it!

I’m still pounding away at making Jeffrey, my youngest son, a great race car driver.  Naaah…..I don’t have to do that.  He’s turning out to be a good little driver all on his on with a few pointers from me and his team owner/mentor Tam Topham.  He’s got a lot of neat things going for him, so we’ll see how it turns out.

As some of you know, I’ve partnered with Kelley and Dale Jr., in a new business venture called Alabama Motorsports Park (AMP).  It’s exciting to be involved on the business side of racing.  I’ve had a lot of fun giving input on the track and I’m really excited about the lake that will be on the property.  I’ll help develop it and host a slew of neat events for the outdoor enthusiast in us all.  To find out more go to www.alabamamotorsportspark.com.

I hope to see all of you at my first KE Fan Club Outing held at Texas Motor Speedway during the October truck race.  It will be held at the track and you can get more information off the site.  I always have a great time hanging out with all of you and getting to know a lot of you that have supported me through the years.  It’s a great opportunity to meet in a more casual, personal setting than a typical public appearance.  So come out and join us!

See ya at the track!
