April 19, 2006 Just checking in to let ya know how this past weekend went. It didn’t start off that great, but at the end of the day, it was all good. I went out for practice and was doing well, until I went into turn 3 and the brakes went out on me. The rear broke loose and I backed the car into the wall. I didn’t hit hard or at least me and my crew didn’t think so, until we saw the rear clip was bent. (As some of you may know, that’s not fixable at the track!) Luckily, I have a prepared car owner, Tam Topham, who took off to his shop and brought the back-up car to the track. I didn’t get to practice it, so qualifying was a little iffy, but we managed to start 19th out of 22 cars…….Could’ve been worse. Thanks to the folks at Motormile Speedway for giving a “Rookie” a break, they let me practice the car to adjust it for the race. I was shooting for a 15th place finish, but the car was so good and my spotter kept me pumped, I drove it to another 6th place finish. Even though one car was wrecked and this one was a little beat up, everyone seemed pretty happy with the end result. Well, it’s hard to say what might happen this weekend, but one thing for sure, I’ll be letting ya know!
